Probiotics are live microorganisms that confer health benefits when administered in adequate amounts. Their role in promoting gut health is well-documented, as they aid in maintaining the intestinal microbiome balance and supporting digestive processes. Emerging research highlights their potential applications beyond gastrointestinal health, including immune system modulation, mental health improvements, and chronic disease management. By enhancing the body’s natural defenses and influencing metabolic pathways, probiotics contribute to overall well-being. However, the efficacy of specific probiotic strains can vary, necessitating continued exploration of their mechanisms of action and optimal dosages. This abstract aims to summarize the current understanding of probiotics, elucidating their therapeutic potential while acknowledging the need for further clinical studies to validate these benefits. As interest in personalized nutrition grows, the integration of probiotics into health strategies presents promising avenues for enhancing public health outcomes.
